The Nigerian-born featherweight is known for being openly proud of his Nigerian heritage by sporting the country’s colours before, during, and after fights.
However, he came into his last fight against Don Shainis without the trademark Nigerian bandana and has now explained why in an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports.

Sodiq Yusuff spoke to Pulse Sports on the unavailability of his green and white bandana against Shainis on October 2, stating that the UFC negated the idea.
“This was my first fight where they asked us not to wear our flags so I couldn’t wear my bandana,” Yusuf said to Pulse Sports.
“We think it had something to do with the whole Russia-Ukraine crisis so they didn’t want them flying their flags and because they didn’t want to look like they were singling them out, they just asked everyone not to fly their flags,” Yusuf said to rationalise the decision.
The inconvenience did not have any impact on the result of the fight though as Yusuff defeated Shainis within 30 seconds with a brutal guillotine.
The submission victory over Don Shainis at UFC Fight Night 211 in Las Vegas was the 13th victory of Sodiq Yusuff’s mixed martial arts career.

According to one widely cited estimate, the Bitcoin network consumes around 200 terrawatt-hours of energy per year. That’s about as much energy as is consumed by 70 million people in Thailand. And it works out to around 2,000 kilowatt-hours per Bitcoin transaction. Ultimately, though, the critical factor will be whether bitcoin comes to play an important role in the global economy. If it does not, then all of those other technologies for providing flexibility on the grid are probably going to look more appealing. If it does, then policymakers, businesses and consumers are going to have to work out how to manage bitcoin’s energy consumption and emissions as it grows. The use of variable renewables combined with flexible load data centres will probably look like the most attractive option.

While institutional money is a major positive for cryptocurrencies, the launch of a Bitcoin ETF would go a long way in rubberstamping its legitimacy. Investors were confident that 2021 would be the year that a Bitcoin ETF would finally start trading, but the SEC has routinely frustrated several proposals to launch one. The SEC has cited the unregulated nature of the coin as the major reason for not approving any Bitcoin ETF. A Bitcoin ETF would allow investors to conveniently buy and sell the digital currency and integrate the coin easily into their portfolios. Nonetheless, there already exists an ETF for crypto mining and mining infrastructure companies trading on the NYSE; investors can only be hopeful a true Bitcoin ETF is on the way. Bitcoin spent most of 2018 gripped in ‘crypto winter’. Bitcoin prices fell, then altcoin prices fell, then both prices fell some more. The price of bitcoin hit multiple false bottoms. There were bear traps and bull traps. It was a messy, turbulent fall from grace for the world’s largest cryptocurrency. Eventually, the price of bitcoin settled into the $5,000 to $7,000 range.
