The president-elect, Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday visited the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in Daura, Katsina State.

This was made known by the Special Assistant on Digital Communications to the President, Bashir Ahmad, on his Twitter account. 

Sharing a photo of the president and the president-elect, Bashir tweeted, “President #MBuhari receives Asiwaju Bola Ahmed TInubu #officialABAT, the President-elect, today in Daura, Katsina State.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu #officialABAT just arrived in Daura, his first engagement as the President-elect, to present his Certificate of Return to President #MBuhari, and personally thank the President for his efforts and commitment to ensure a free, fair, and credible election.”

Mr. Tinubu was accompanied by Vice-President-elect, Kashim Shettima and the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu. Others on the trip to Aura were the Governors of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai; Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu; Ebonyi, Dave Umahi; Zamfara, Bello Matawalle; Niger, Abubakar Sani-Bello; Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ogun, Dapo Abiodun, Jigawa, Badaru Abubakar and Plateau, Simon Lalong.

A-CHOICES gathered that the President-elect used the opportunity to thank President Buhari for his support during the electioneering process.

President Buhari had openly displayed his ballot paper, with the thumbprint of APC, before casting his vote during the presidential election on 25 February. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu was declared the President-elect in the early hours of Wednesday by INEC, having defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, among other presidential candidates.
