Interview With Singer Rozil


A-CHOICES: Kindly introduce yourself to our readers.
ROZIL: My birth name is Gaius Rosilu. I am a singer-songwriter, music director, and vocal
coach. I was born in Nigeria, but I moved to the UK with my family.
From a young age, i have immersed myself in the world of music, honing my skills as a
vocalist, writer.
A-CHOICES: From where did you derive the stage name “ROZIL”?
ROZIL: I’ve had different stage names as I was growing and evolving as an artiste, Rozil
came to be around 2019/2020. I wanted something that would fit my kind of sound and
brand, so I coined it from my surname ROSILU.

A-CHOICES: Early life and Education?
ROZIL: We moved around a lot, due to my dad’s ministry. So I schooled in different places.
My first degree was in Computer and Information Science and I had my Masters degree in
Marketing Management, that was in Cyprus, between 2013 and 2015.
All through my education period, I was in one music group or the other. Sometimes multiple
music groups, and choirs, and at the same time trying to do my own music.
A-CHOICES: Music Focus
ROZIL: My musical prowess finds its truest expression in the richness of the now-global afro
beats, and this really gives me the room for smooth expression in conveying my devotion to
God through meticulously crafted harmonies, poignant lyrics, and captivating melodies. My
music captivates. Smiles

A-CHOICES: How did you find music? Did you grow up in a musical household, or are you
first generation?

ROZIL: Basically I was born into a music family. My dad played the piano. My mum was a
vocal power house (God rests her souls) and she played the violin too. So I dropped right
into music. Laughs.

A-CHOICES: Are there any particular songs that you associate with your earliest memories?

ROZIL: Not any particular song though, but hymns generally.
The music I grew up with was the symphonic and classical type of music.
A-CHOICES: Awards?
ROZIL: My drive and desire to make impact and spread the message of Christ through my
music has already achieved notable recognition. In 2015, I was honored with a Global Music
Award for his exceptional vocal contributions to the Intercontinental Music Group’s album in
A-CHOICES: What’s New?
ROZIL: I dropped my first body of work in February. Its an EP of 5 tracks, titled ‘From Way
Back’. Now I’m dropping a follow up single June 22nd.

A-CHOICES: What has been the most memorable moment in your career so far?
ROZIL: It has to be when I dropped my EP. The reception was amazing. I didn’t expect it to
do well like it did. Considering I’m relatively new to the scene.

A-CHOICES: What is the one thing you are not willing or prepared to do ever, in your quest
to achieve a successful musical career?

ROZIL: Let go of God and my family
A-CHOICES: Which Nigerian Music legend or musician do you look up to?
ROZIL: Tim Godfrey

A-CHOICES: When you’re not recording and performing, what other hobbies make you tick?
ROZIL: Spend time with my family. I’m quite playful, so I play with them a lot.
A-CHOICES: Any last words and thoughts to your fans?
ROZIL: Never let go of your dreams. They are yours, so protect it. And please keep streaming my music. Plenty love from me.
