Africa’s first representation at the Children of the Universe 2021 pageant.

For the ninth year, Bulgaria hosted the international competition Prince & Princess of the Universe. The event takes place annually in mid-June, during the 7 days off the competition, 5 age groups of boys and girls from the five continents compete for the child of the Universe title.

Due to the global pandemic, this year the pageant was held in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, rather than at the traditional, beautiful Black seaside location. Many contestants could not take part because of the various COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The event organizer Mrs. Universe Ltd joined forces with the multi-cultural company Albena International Ltd. which promotes Africa in the EU and for the first time, we had contestants from Nigeria, Sudan, and South Sudan representing the African continent. The organizers are hopeful that things will return to normal next year and they will continue the annual tradition of holding the competition with an even bigger international presence than ever before.

Traditionally, the jury evaluates the participants in three consecutive evenings: National costumes, Talent, and Evening wear. During the last night of the Evening Wear competition round, the finalists are selected and crowned.

The main goal of Children of the Universe is to nurture creativity, confidence, and the development of social and artistic skills among the participants. Our children are our future; they are the ones that will build a better world. During the contest, children are able to communicate and learn from each other, exchanging cultural knowledge and traditional souvenirs from their countries and are given the opportunity to showcase their talent, charm, grace, and beauty in a fun and loving environment, supported by their relatives, mentors, and a fantastic audience.
