Shuaibu Amodu was a Nigerian player and manager who played as a forward. He played for Dumez and Niger Tornadoes but his playing career was short-lived due to injury.
As a manager, he coached the Super Eagles of Nigeria on five separate occasions. He also coached teams like BCC Lions, El-Kanemi Warriors, Shooting Stars, and Orlando Pirates.
Amodu qualified Nigeria for two World Cup tournaments- 2002 and 2010, however, he never coached at the World Cup.
In 2002, he led Nigeria to a third-place finish at the AFCON tournament held in Mali and also qualified them for Korea/Japan World Cup tournament. But he was replaced with Festus Onigbinde, who led the team to the World Cup.
In 2010, he led the team to a third-place finish at the AFCON tournament held in Angola and also qualified them for the World Cup held in South Africa. But he was replaced with Swedish manager Lars Lagerback, who led the team to the World Cup.
On 10 June 2016, Amodu reportedly died in his sleep after complaining of chest pains.
