Woman,31, ‘murdered’ in Brixton named and pictured for the first time

Johanita Dogbey died at 4 pm on Monday earlier this week A woman who was stabbed to death by a presumed stranger as she made her way to a family party has been described as a ‘kind-hearted daughter’ by her distraught father. Johanita Dogbey has been named locally as the 31-year-old woman who died at 4 pm on Bank Holiday Monday after a man allegedly approached her from behind and stabbed her. 

Johanita was pronounced dead at the scene in Brixton and a 33-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder. Met Police have revealed they have been granted extra time to question him as their inquiries continue. 

Yesterday the Met Police said they didn’t believe that the victim knew her attacker. Her Object 1

the family said they are “completely broken” as they try to understand what happened to their “kind-hearted” daughter. 

Johanita’s younger brother Maurice today told MailOnline: “We are trying to understand what has happened and are completely broken. As far as we know there was no link between my sister and the attacker. We are waiting to meet with the police to get a full update. This whole thing has left us devastated. It’s too much for us.” 

Her father Yao said: “We have no words at this moment. My daughter was beautiful and kind-hearted. I’m sorry, I can’t say anything more. 

Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh, local policing commander for Lambeth, said: “This is a shocking attack and my thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends as they come to terms with this awful news. We will do everything we can to support them at this incredibly difficult time. 

“I recognise the considerable concern this incident has caused and I’d like to reassure you that a dedicated team of detectives is carrying out a number of enquiries and have made an arrest.”
