Chidimma Adetshina, who represented Taraba State, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. Her journey to the title has been nothing short of remarkable, mirroring the resilience and grace that marked the Miss Universe South Africa incident where she was controversially disqualified.

Africa Fact Zone revealed this in a video post on X last night.
“Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina has emerged as Miss Universe Nigeria 2024,” it posted.
According to Pop Pulse, she will be representing the country in Mexico on the global stage.

It posted: “She’ll be representing Nigeria at the Miss Universe grand finale in Mexico this November. Congratulations, Chidimma.”
The South African-based media entertainment channel confirmed the victory in a post on its X account, #Pop_PulseZa
“This crown is not just for beauty; it’s a call for unity,” She stated after she was crowned.

The 23-year-old born and raised in South Africa with a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother has been the subject of numerous controversies.
She entered the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant as Miss Taraba after withdrawing from Miss South Africa due to negative online comments about her nationality and accusations of fraud by the South African Home Office.

Miss South Africa Beauty Pageant 2024 saga

Adetshina, 23, pulled out of the Miss South Africa Beauty Pageant 2024 earlier following criticisms from South Africans that she was not eligible to participate in the pageantry.

Her withdrawal stemmed from the information published on the organisation’s website that she was born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a Mozambique mother.

The organisers also affirmed that she was a naturalised South African.

Citing the incessant attacks against her person and threats to her family after her withdrawal, the National Director of Miss Universe Nigeria, Guy Murray-Bruce, invited her to compete in the just concluded MUN 2024.

Last week, she made her intention known about her desire to win and also get to know the Nigerian culture more. She said, “It’s been 20 years since I’ve been here, so I just wanna get to know more about Nigeria’s culture and where I really come from.”

The law student further reiterated her interest in winning the Miss Universe Nigeria pageantry.“My goal is to obviously win the crown for Miss Universe Nigeria,” Adetshina had stated.

Meanwhile, Chidimma, in her acceptance speech, said that the victory is for all.

This is, as she stated, a true call for unity.

“This crown is not just for beauty; it’s a call for unity,” the winner stated.
