Asked who was the worst man-manager to ever coach Chelsea during his days at the club, John Obi Mikel did not mince words in naming Rafa Benitez.
“Benitez was one of the most disliked managers by players,” Mikel told Dubai Eye.
“I mean this guy’s man-management skills were awful! Really awful. He never talks to you, he never communicates, he never tells you why you’re not playing.
“I think that’s why JT [John Terry] got him out,” Mikel said laughing.
The former Super Eagles captain also disclosed the best man-manager he worked with at Chelsea and the manager eventually spelt an end to his Blues career.
“For me, Carlo Ancelotti was the best man-manager I ever had at Chelsea. The way he talks, the way he speaks to the players – you can never see him raise his voice,” Mikel said.
“He passes his message across in a different way,” Mikel adds.
Mikel stated that the manager who forced him out of Chelsea was Antonio Conte.
The ex-midfielder claimed Conte didn’t want him to go to the Olympics to represent his country. Mikel defied the Italian manager and went to China to play the games. He did win the Bronze medal with Nigeria but as a result, Mikel was frozen out from Chelsea.
