SOFIA FASHION WEEK, a globally recognised annual event, took place in March at the prestigious Hotel Marinela in Sofia, hosted by the renowned Code Fashion TV – the sole Bulgarian fashion television. Since its inception in 2015, Sofia Fashion Week has been a platform for hundreds of Bulgarian and international brands, making it a significant player in the global fashion scene.
This year’s fashion week was a thrilling departure from the norm, marked by the exciting debut of an African presence. Top models, influencers, music stars, and VIP guests worldwide were in attendance, adding to the event’s allure.
The audience was treated to a unique spectacle as Albena International Ltd, an African company in Bulgaria, showcased the vibrant energy of African patterns in a fusion with global fashion trends. This was beautifully exemplified in the fashion collection of Nigerian designer Don Zubi and the brand DZ Casual 78.
During the three evenings full of fashion, glamour, and trends – Bulgarian and global designers presented their most current collections for the spring-summer 2024 season. DZ Casual 78 livened up the stage with his formal ladies’ outfits and then transitioned into ladies’ and men’s traditional African fashion.
Mr Abbal, also known as Donzubi, is the visionary behind the DZ brand, a Nigerian by origin who resides and creates in the Netherlands. His multifaceted talents have not only left an indelible mark in Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, and Europe but now, his influence has extended to Bulgaria, inspiring fashion enthusiasts worldwide. His unique designs and championing of African fabrics have significantly contributed to the global fashion industry.
His Entrepreneurial prowess led him to found his clothing line under the brand name Don Zubi Casual78. He champions African fabrics and crafts unique designs tailored for a global audience.
He has been a beacon for African creativity. His remarkable journey as the CEO and founder of Donzubi Entertainment, DZ Charity Foundation, and DZ Casual78 showcases his unwavering dedication to impacting both the Fashion and entertainment industries. African fashion deserves to be showcased on the World’s fashion stage. The DZ casual catwalk show during Sofia Fashion Week demonstrated that. At its finale on a stage lined up with over 30 models in colourful DZ attire, the designer Don Zubi got a standing ovation as he walked out hand in hand with African philanthropist Albena Jones, wearing one of the beautiful handmade outfits.
