Winnie Byanyima is a Ugandan aeronautical engineer, politician, human rights activist, feminist and diplomat. She is a remarkable role model known for her tireless advocacy for social justice, gender equality, and human rights.
She currently serves as Executive Director of UNAIDS since November 2019. Prior to that she served as the Executive Director of Oxfam International.
As Executive Director at both UNAIDS and Oxfam International, she has dedicated her career to fighting poverty and inequality on a global scale, emphasising the need for systemic change.
Byanyima’s background as a politician and a former Member of Parliament in Uganda reflects her deep commitment to empowering marginalised communities and amplifying their voices.
