Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi is set to be sentenced by a US court over alleged internet fraud on Wednesday, September 21 The confirmation of the decision on Hushpuppi’s fraud case was made known by the United States Attorney’s office for the Central District of California The court’s spokesperson, however, failed to state when the suspended DCP Abba Kyari will be extradited to the US.
The United States Attorney’s Office for Central District of California, Los Angeles, says the September 21, 2022 sentence date for alleged international Internet fraudster Ramon Abbas, aka, Hushpuppi, remains unchanged.
Since his conviction in 2021, Hushpuppi’s sentence date has been postponed three times.
His first sentencing was initially scheduled for February 14 before moving to July 11 and then September 21, 2022.
Mrozek stated that the suspect would be sentenced later this year after having pleaded guilty to the alleged $1.1 million fraud last year.
“Mr. Abbas is currently scheduled to be sentenced by a federal judge in Los Angeles on September 21,” he said.
Hushpuppi agreed to a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to money laundering, wire fraud, and other charges brought against him by the court.
According to court documents, he faces “20 years in prison; three years of supervised release; and a fine of $500,000 or twice the gross gain or gross loss resulting from the offence.”
