The Notting Hill Carnival is an annual Caribbean Carnival event that has taken place in London since 1966 on the streets of the Notting Hill area of Kensington, over the August Bank Holiday weekend. It is the largest street party in Europe, attracting around 2 million attendees over the 3 days. Each year, the Notting Hill Carnival attracts approximately two million visitors. Some casual spectators, some Londoners out for a free dance, some tourists who have popped down to see Portobello’s colourful houses and accidentally found Europe’s biggest street party instead. But most of all, it’s the West Indians coming together to celebrate their respective cultures. Now, as Carnival wraps up for another year, our photographer Abiodun Adeleye was on the ground to capture the people and the vibes.

The Notting Hill Carnival, one of London’s most iconic annual events, once again brought vibrant colour, music, and culture to the streets of Kensington over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Established in 1966, the carnival has grown into Europe’s largest street festival, drawing an estimated two million attendees across three days.
The event attracts a diverse crowd: curious tourists stumbling upon the festivities, Londoners in search of music and dance, and above all, members of the West Indian community proudly celebrating their heritage and traditions.

As this year’s carnival comes to a close, our photographer, Abiodun Adeleye, was on the ground capturing the energy, spirit, and unforgettable moments of a celebration that continues to embody unity, resilience, and cultural pride.
